The Framework is to provide standard definitions, metrics, and process for the specification, evaluation, and development of the autonomous capabilities of UMSs. ALFUS aims at formulating, through a consensus-based approach, a logical framework for characterizing the UMS autonomy, covering issues of levels of autonomy, mission complexity, and environmental complexity.
